Theresa Trainor Research Collection
The collection consists of the research and writings about Theresa Trainor’s projects in the Southwest neighborhood completed as a part of her studies at American University. There are research papers, research files, interviews, transcripts, audio, and video cassettes. Materials document Southwest before urban renewal transformed the neighborhood. Many of the materials document the Willow Tree playground football team and its alumni.
Twentieth Century Club Records
The collection consists of yearbooks, monthly bulletins, by-laws, printed programs, histories of the Club, a few items regarding membership and fundraising, and a handwritten ledger recording the celebration in 1940 of the 50th anniversary of the Club’s founding.
W. Bryant Tyrrell Photograph Collection
The collection consists of newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, and slides. Subjects include DC Monuments, natural photography, bird feeders, national parks, parades, and canals. The collection is broken into three series: Obituaries, Photographs, and Slides.
U Street Oral History Project
Digital recordings of 20 oral history interviews by DCPL Special Collections Librarian Kelly Navies and related digital documents. 18 of the recordings are about the U Street cultural corridor. All of the U Street interviews have logs and two of them also have transcripts. Digital photographs and other documents were also included in the U Street transfer. There is also an interview with DC author Edward P. Jones, in 2 parts.
Cynthia Uleman Collection
The collection contains fliers for musical performances, mail art, correspondence, publications, and zines Cnythia Uleman collected throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
United Brick Company Photograph Collection
The collection consists of 85 4x6 inch and 3.5x5 inch color images of the abandoned United Brick Company buildings and kilns. The kilns are located on New York Avenue NE and are currently owned by the United States National Arboretum. All the images were taken around 1993 and show the vast vegetation overgrowth and dilapidation of the site.
